ThumperGal is on a distinguished road
Smile Paris, TX

We visited Paris, TX for the ASA Archery tournment in April, and was very impressed with the city and it's people. Everyone was so nice and the area was beautiful. Made us start to think we might like to re-locate there from our home in Pine Bluff, AR. Can someone tell us about the jobs located around Paris? Hubby is an Auto Tech and I work in an office. Our current town is really on a down-turn...awful place to live and we have been looking for a better place to live. We have no children, so schools arn't a big worry for us. Any responce is greatly appreciated.

They have a huge Campbells soup plant there. Don't know much else besides, though....

We considered relocating to Paris......but didn't find it to be our cup of tea. And there is a pervasive odor of soup! (interpret as you will)

Kimberly-Clark and Campell's and Merico Bakery (I guess that's still the name) are the major employers there. The soup odor comes and goes and is on just one side of town ; but just down the road there is the wonderful odor of baking bread all the time!. The medical center is large so there are office and technical jobs there. Most of the nicer, newer homes are on the NE part of town outside the loop and on out in the rural area for several miles....nice homes, small acreages, lots of nice trees, reasonable prices. There is very little good shopping or dining there but if that's not terribly important to you it's a good place to live. It has more of a southern atmosphere and attitude rather than western, friendly people, middle class, blue collar for the most part.
