Default Question about Amarillo

I'm planning on a relocation to Amarillo, that is IF I am offered a position I'm looking at. So, I figured I would at least do some research on a decent place to live or a decent area I should say.
I've not decided if I will rent or purchase yet, but am trying to decide the best location. I prefer rural, but will consider something else.
Just need information from a local or someone who knows Amarillo. My next step is contacting a realtor as well.
Thanks in advance!

I am not interested in Amarillo per se, but in the stretch between Amarillo and Boise City. Any info, data, experiences, etc appreciated. Thanks!
