Default Khmer, Viet, Laos, Thai - Where has more, Houston or Dallas? or..

hi i am exploring where in USA to relocate to, having lived all my life so far (30 yrs) in New York City and am now selling my house and moving on, somewhere warmer, more spacious, and rich with southeast asian culture!

ideally would like to stay on the EAST coast, but my options are limited cuz it doesn't seem (at first glance) there are any substantial se asian communities on east coast south of Philly.

where in TX has the most southeast asian especially khmer/cambodians? any recommendations as to specifically where like what town or suburb of those cities would be greatly appreciated, ... thanks!

I've never seen any actual statistics on this, but I would take an educated guess based upon my personal observations that Houston has a more vibrant Southeast Asian culture.

Houston. You'll even find some street signs in Vietnamese. Houston has a "China Town" area, but it's actually different asian cultures represented. I want to say it's off of Richmond somewhere. You can google it.

They're in Vietnamese now?

It was only Chinese last time I was out on the SW side.

I do know the municipal "publications" are in English, Spanish and Vietnamese as a standard.

Houston has long had a lot of Vietnamese because of the fishing and shrimping industry in the Gulf. I don't know about the other groups.

In the "Vietnamtown" section of Midtown there are street signs in Vietnamese and have been as long as I've lived here (mid-90's).

Outside of Southeast Asia, Houston has the second highest Southeast Asian population, which is largely Vietnamese. The largest population is in Los Angeles. Here, Nguyen is almost as common a surname as Smith.

Houston all along Bellaire Blvd, Wilcrest, Kirkwood Rd. is Asia Town about 20-40 blocks of asian businesses from the Beltway 8 to Highway 6.
Sugar Land, Stafford and MO City have high populations of asians living in that Fort Bend County.

Here is a list of Cities with the biggest VN populations.

Houston is 3rd here but this is somewhat misleading because they are comparing the whole MSA of Houston versus smaller cities in Orange County like Westminster, Garden Grove, & Santa Ana.
