Don't leave so soon. You will find people everywhere who give answers you might not like and as THL mentioned, ignore that which you don't. Worse yet are the mind readers.
I live in central Texas about 65 miles south of Fort Worth and have for over 30 years. The house I have lived in now for 22 years has a cattle raising pasture behind me. Oh my gosh, it has been there forever. They used to have Charlois, but now all kinds of different ones although I'm not sure what they are. It's a great place to raise cattle, and they're thriving nicely.
As far as scenery goes, I would say central Texas might be one of the prettiest spots in Texas. Now I don't know where you're from so the scenes may not be as lovely as that which you may be used to, but all in all, it isn't bad for prettiness.
I have a friend who lives close to me and raises Herefords as well as other friends who raise horses. I surely wouldn't worry about the so-called drought.
