I believe in a right to protest, but at the same time I smell a rat. I already mentioned they should've brought some Koolaid to these events, but after watching some videos I think they should've also brought some tin-foil to pass out.

I also looked at slideshows of some tea parties around the nation, and I must say I'm amazed at the amount of diversity in the crowds!!! Who woulda thought?!??

I believe in everyone's right to protest, but I don't lend much credence to these tea parties.

People will protest then turn around and vote for every bond program on the ballot, which are nothing more than tax increases.

If they (the gov't-types) truly want to make the tax system fair, they will either replace the current income tax system to a flat tax or at the very least have every working person pay taxes. Currently, 40% of workers pay no taxes at all.

It is also entirely unfair to tax people who make more at a higher rate. It is nothing more than a punishment for being successful.

I am used to it. Doesn't mean I have to agree. Penn's interview was great by the way...got a libertarian perspective in there.

The sad thing is there's plenty of "brainless" Texans who will still vote for that clown. Never mind he voted with Bush's spending the whole time he's been in office LMAO

Exactly. Perry's done EVERYTHING he's accusing Washington of.

1) Unaccountable to the voters - he's spent the last 6 years pushing a tollway first agenda that 60% of Texans disapprove of

2) Wasted taxpayer money - Called numerous special sessions of the legislature (at a cost of millions to taxpayers)

3) Allowed Washington powerbrokers to set state policy - Called special sessions to push Tom DeLay's redistricting plan

4) Used his executive powers to interfere in the rights of Texas citizens - Attempted to force every school age girl in Texas to get the Gardasil vaccine at the behest of a Merck lobbyist who used to be his Secretary of State

Perry's a dirtbag. The only reason he's got his face all over this issue is because 61% of Texans voted against him in 2006 and he's attempting to use voter angst to get himself re-elected. Don't fall for it. He's never been for the average Texan and he never will be.

One day you will wake up, look at the major sponsors of these events, and realize that this was all just a sham to try and establish a Republican base.
One thing you can say about Texans - we are as real as it gets. You don't have to like us, doesn't matter to us, but can't help but notice that there is a solid line of vehicles headed for Texas to find a better life.

The color of this state does not matter to us - we were "Blue" for a hundred years. Character matters in Texas, a man/woman's word matters in Texas, we are not all about "party" or "politics", we are about "country" .... that's what makes Texans different.

I went to a Tea Party tonight - it took us about 30 minutes to get into the parking lot. A baseball stadium was standing room only ....... the word "Obama" was never spoken all night. This was not an anti-President rally.

Texans are Americans who are not afraid to stand up and say ... We the People have had ENOUGH.

Here's a newsflash: No politician in the history of the world ever had people agree 100% with him/her. If Jesus Christ ran for president, I can bet you we'd see the same number of people mud-slinging and protesting at his rallies.

Lots of noise by everyone, but at the end of the day, the politicans favored by the majority of the people are the ones that get elected. Rick Perry won. I did not vote for him (I went for Kinky Friedman), but I dont' think Mr. Hair/Perry is as bad as people make him out to be. Sure, he has had some controversial dealings, but what politician hasn't? You got to **** off people sometimes for the greater good of the state.

I DO agree, however, that Perry is probably doing this because he wants to be governor again. If the people want him again, they will vote for him. After all, it's decided by us! We're trying to really change some things with the tea party.
