Wichita Falls, TX
I just recently moved to Wichita Falls for a new job. My family won't be moving until later on this, year, though. I was just curious, what are the best areas of town to look for a home, as far as education is considered? My son will be starting school this fall and I wondered which are the best elementary schools to consider. Currently I am in an apartment which would be in the Ben Milam Elementary location. Are there better schools in the area. I spoke with Fowler, but we have to live in the district for my son to go there. What exact area of town would that be. I'm just wondering where to look as far as raising two young children as well as a nice safe area of town and nicer housing. I've spoken with several people and they all have different answers as far as school systems in the area.

I've lived here all my life and live at the very western edge of town near the intersection of Kell & 369. I have 2 boys. 1 of school age. My location puts me in the West Foundation Elementary district. Their mother lives in the Fowler district, but we decided to go with my address and use West Foundation. We lived in the Jefferson district before we split up. I went to Jefferson as a boy and it was and still is a very good school. I'm pretty impressed with West Foundation so far too. I can't say much about Fowler or Ben Milam other than knowing some of the people whose kids go there, I preferred other options.
I don't know the exact boundaries for Fowler, but I believe the majority of it is on the south side of Southwest parkway from Fairway to Barnett. Living in the Ben Milam area, you're in a good, safe part of town, but I do agree that moving a mile or two could get you into a nicer place.

I used to live in the City View area (near the new high school). Great school district! Homes there are also in a good location for the Hwy 287/SAFB/Northern expansion of Wichita Falls. Prices are good too. Plus, you are away from the hustle and bustle of the inner city areas. I highly recommend it!

The Wichita Falls ISD administration office should be able to provide you with a district map that shows the boundaries of each campus. Some districts allow transfers....you might ask about that. You can check the Accountability Scores for each campus by going to the Texas Education Agency's website.
I have no personal experience with the schools there but I do have relatives who attend there and a couple of friends who have taught there....they all have loved their experiences at City View.
