Hello Texas natives i'm from Georgia and was curious as to what part of the country would you all prefer Texas to be associated with, the South or Midwest, I personally think Texas should be labeled as the South but my neighbor from New Jersey says Texas is the Midwest, I know some of you will say Texas is Texas and nothing else but Texas did have slavery which gives it southern roots.

Texas is decidedly southern. If you want midwest try Iowa or Wisconsin.

It really depends on what part of Texas you are talking about. East Texas is definitely southern. The rest of the state I would consider southwestern before midwestern.

Some think it's the west, some the south. I've never heard of anyone referring to Texas as the midwest. I feel it's the south.

I mainly want to prove a point to my neighbor from up north, he's never wrong and according to him "We's sho is slo don here n da souf", but seriously he is the type of person that can't be told anything unless you're agreeing with him and if he see's where the majority of your posts say's that Texas is in the south maybe I can rub it in his face.

Texas is just Texas but if you want to categorize, I agree with the others. Somewhere between South and Southwest. What can we say...it is a BIG state.

We are so far south we can't see the north. Actually I think we are southwestern.

Texas is Texas.

I totally agree with Poltacker.

But if you had to tack it down, we'd chose southern over western or mid-western.

Texas is Texas. If it's anything else, it's the Southwest. It's not the South, though a portion of it bordering Louisiana feels like the South.

No way in heck is it the Midwest in any way, shape or form.
