Don't misunderstand me, I'd want no one city skyline on it.
Am I the only one who feels the skyline is too much and inappropriate?

I grew up in Illinois. EVERYTHING the state puts out has Chicago on it. It's really really annoying. I'm a proud downstater and didn't visit Chicago until I was 32 years old. It is NOT representative of the entire state!
The Illinois state quarter has Chicago on it, but it also has a cornfield, so that's better.

I just emailed my state senator, talking about how inappropriate it was to have Austin as the skyline. Perhaps you should do the same.

SMU, also, what about starting a thread similar to this at SSP? Maybe with a link to all the senators and state reps.

No one city represents Texas so why make one city the defining feature of something that does represent all of Texas.

Yes, the annual registration is by weight of the vehicle. My 3/4 ton pickup runs about $50/year.

Sorry, I misunderstood your reply.
3/4 pickup is only $50 a year ?
I called and asked how much my Ranger would cost to tag and they told me $150.

Why not put something similar to the former license plate ? with the cowboy, desert, moon, sky, space shuttle, oil rigs, ect, ect..

Doesn't bother me particularly, because Austin is the capitol of Texas, so it makes sense if you're going to have any skyline on there.

Well, your Ranger weighs a lot less than my Dodge Cummins Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel!
Has your Ranger been registered in Texas before? $150 would make sense if you were paying an initial fee to register it and get it in the system and get the Texas license plates and sticker for it and the first year's annual fee. But let me run to the website and find out.

There is no need for a skyline. That is the problem. Why would you put a skyline on a state drivers license? If it were Houston's or Dallas or San Antonio I'd feel the same way, I think you would too.
The drivers license represents Texas, the capitol represents Texas, that skyline does not.

Here is the link to find your representative. Who Represents Me--Home
It's fine to have the capitol building on the license, but to have a nationally obscure city like Austin is another thing. The Austin skyline isn't known at all. They should scrap the skyline idea all together, and put the Alamo, or the San Jacinto monument, or something else that represents the whole state.
