Default The 5 states of Texas

Since we have the ability to be 5 seperate states if we so desire, I suggest we do it. What a nightmare it would be for the socialist who are now ensconced in D.C. if there were 10 senators from the great states of Texas to contend with. North Texas could have Roger Staubach as governor ( I know he is a yankee but he has been here long enough to be counted as Texan), East Texas governor could be Nolan Ryan, South Texas could have Flaco Jimenez, West Texas -ummmm,yeah- Kinky Friedman, and last but not least Central Texas(after we sold Austin to California) would be governed by George Strait. What a line-up-Huh?

Not really, because South, West and maybe Central TX will have said socialists as senators.

The bigger question is how to we go about gerry-mandering the state 5 ways to your advantage?

I say Texas should divide into two states. One being within the Texarkana city limits called Texas, the other being the remainder of the former state called the Republic of Texas. The Republic of Texas wouldn't petition the U.S. government for admission into the classic 57 states and would re-establish those foreign relations necessary for international competition.

If Texas were to split into 5 states it probably wouldn't do much insofar as the presidential election to help you.

Think about it, If you split Texas into 5 states you would have split the two biggest metros into different states that equals close to about half of your total states population. (I'm showing Dallas at roughly 6.5M and Houston close to 6M itself in the major metro areas ( not just the city itself ) and I have a rough estimate of Texas having around 25M residents )

So lets say Dallas/Ft. Worth and the Houston area are two of the 5 states equaling almost half of the total population. Houston and Dallas would both have roughly 10 electoral votes.

The other 3 states of Texas divided ( if equally ) would have roughly 4M a peice which would equal out to having about 7.

Total that up and yes, Texas would gain 9 electoral votes but honestly, would those 9 votes have kept Obama out of the White House ? Nope.

Edit: Forgot to add, Texas would have a total of 41 electoral votes if split instead of the 32 it currently has HOWEVER, With the metro areas like Dallas and Houston split off, Who's to say those states don't turn Blue due to the diversity of the cities ?

Boy right wingers sure do love their Country don't they?

They lose one election and they want to take their marbles and go home.

To each his own I guess, I just wish they stop pretending their soooo patriotic.

I could see myself having questions about some Texans loyalty to the U.S. but not to Texas, They're pretty insane over their love for Texas.

What a silly conversation. We're all Texans and we understand our importance in US History.

I wish I had this much time to babble about your concepts. Tomorrow is Friday and I have a full workload. Enjoy writing more idiotic babble.

Since we are breaking the state up, can I have my own little invitation-only area in the Hill Country?
