Wow! Never heard of it...and I thought I had heard of it all. Now, see if you can find the town of Bangs, Tx. I was looking for it once and didn't realize I had driven through it.

Well, I looked at the City Website and I notice that there is a Children's Playhouse, some Churches, schools, and they have City Council meetings. I also live in a smallish town and found that becoming active in civic affairs is a great way to meet people. I've got 5 good friends I've met plus several more I'm getting to know. You could volunteer at the local nursing home and it may also be good for your kids to do some volunteering. Some of the local churches also look like they get involved in community activities such as festivals and other things. That would also be a good place to start. Are there any other homeschoolers in your town? Usually women you meet through church are good sources of that type of information.

well i have a nursing newborn and homeschool all my kids plus i don't have a car so volunteer work isn't going to work for me. we don't have a children's playhouse either. we don't have anything! the librarian has tried several times to start things and no one ever shows up so she stopped trying. we choose not to go to church - too long a story to tell as to why- so that's no good either.
it seems from the lack of real responses that there is no interest here so i will just forget it. thank you and thank you for the one real response i did get.
