Ozona is a small quiet town.I don't think a single parent will get treated any different there than anywhere else. The schools are decent. The closest decent shopping is 1 1/2 hr away in San Angelo. The only knock I have against Ozona is that up until a few years ago,or it may even still be this way,the country club didn't allow Hispanic members.I haven't heard whether this has changed or not.Not that being a member of the CC is important, but I don't know what that may say about race relations there. There are a number of Hispanics there,in fact that make up about 60% of the pop.African Americans are about non existent.

Interestingly, although Ozona is around 3500 pop, there is no city government. The county handles everything. The county judge is the de facto mayor.

I am a native of Ozona, so I'm biased, LOL!!

Number of hispanics? They now make up about 65-70% of the population...and most of the school system, which is very decent. They get fairly good ratings every year.

The people are mostly friendly and easy to get along with, but I have always been told that it is rather clannish/cliquish to outsiders. I've been gone for 30 years, so it has changed a bit. There are about 4,000 people county-wide, and it has decent housing and such. Shopping stinks. They have two large grocery stores, A Dollar General and a decent lumber company, but most people go to San Angelo (80 miles) to shop.

As a single person, there is very little to do there, but if you like laid-back, easy-going small-town life, you might enjoy living there.

The Country Club has had Hispanic members.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

Good luck!
