Default moving to Amarillo

We will most likely be moving to Amarillo in a few short weeks. We are looking for a rental to get started with. We have 2 kids, one in high school and one in preschool and one dog. Hubby works for BNSF. I am wondering about the areas of the city and the school system. We would like to move fairly close to where dh will work but have no idea what Amarillo is like since we have never even been to Texas. Any information would be great. BTW we are moving from Nebraska. Also I would like to know about the job market for myself. I currently work in a treatment center for drugs and alcohol as a tech but can do anything. Thanks in advance for your help.

Where exactly is your husband's office located? I can tell you that the Randall High School system is excellent and also the Amarillo High School district. Randall is going to be the area of South Amarillo in Randall county and heads toward Canyon. I am not sure where the boundaries are for Amarillo High. There are a lot of newer schools also. The west part of town is the newest and continues to grow. I have a lot of friends that graduated from Randall and loved it. Canyon itself has really nice schools and it a short commute to Amarillo. I don't live in that area anymore, but still have many friends there and visit often. You will be happy with Amarillo. It is a nice place.

You shouldn't have a problem with finding a job. There are a lot of different healthcare related jobs in the area. Good Luck!
