schools in brownsville
What are the schools like in Brownsville. What is the BEST elementary school. I am not opposed to private schools. We are considering moving there and are going next week for a visit. I would like to check out some things. Any suggestions for good apartment complexes or should we rent a house for a few years? I don't want to buy right away. Would like to pay probably around 1200 a month. Need at least 3 bedrooms.
I'm looking to work at the hospital and my husband would be working from home. I am white if that makes a difference. I guess they call us anglos there... I do speak some spanish but my husband does not.

You can get a luxury apartment for 1200 a month in Brownsville. Heck, you can rent a pretty nice house for 1200 a month as well.
Brownsville is not the nicest city in the valley. I would rather live in Harlingen and make the commute to Brownsville.

I'd say that the best elementary school is the Episcopal Day School. And, yes, it's private.

what would be some of the schools in Harlingen? Since I would only work 3 days a week as a nurse I wouldn't mind a commute. The Episcopal Day school looks really nice. It would be 12,000 a year to send my kids or another $1000 a month. Hmmm maybe not that nice. lol I have to pay back my student loans. Maybe next year but this is my first year out of college. We should be making 100K a year but have the student loans to go with it.

I'm looking at Calvery Christian now. Looks like Kindergarten only is half day though. Is that how it is generally in Tx. Most schools here are now full day.

there's no point in living in harlingen. you're just going to be away from everything.

Brownsville has grown a lot and has a lot more to offer to you. The Los Fresnos schools (a few minutes north of Brownsville) are excellent and are just as good as any private school. Parts of north Brownsville are in the LF district so you can live there and be close to where you work.

What hospital will you work at? Treasure Hills is a nice area of Harlingen and has a good elementary school. If you are working at Valley Baptist, you could walk to work.
