Bumping this one up for another go around. Interested in experiences living along the way from Amarillo to Boise City. Particularly outliers of those two urban areas as well as independent small towns along that route.

I've never lived in Amarillo but have driven through several times around the whole panhandle area and it is truly one of my favorites. Cathy hit it on the head for me too because I totally relate to the ability of seeing for miles and miles. I'm currently in Northern New York near the Adirondack mtns and all I heard from locals was how beautiful they are. Finally took a road trip with family and as I sat in the back of a minivan I was starting to feel extremely sick. Windy roads and heavy, heavy tree cover spells disaster for me. I made them pull over and let me out. I failed to see the beauty in it. You can not see the mtns unless you are on top of them or are at a lake. Anyway I didn't want to spoil the festivities but I just let them know that trees don't do much for me. On the flip side of that when we lived in Colorado Springs my father in law wondered where were the trees and didn't like the desert feeling that went along with it. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.
I told my husband when we moved here that I didn't want to live in a house that was surronded by trees, that was one of my requirements. The good thing is I am able to see across a corn field and all the way to Fort Drum, which happens to be a few miles away from us.
