I lived in B/CS area during four years as a graduate student. I love there. The university brings many activities, plays, and shows. If you like sports the university has many options. The CS schools are very good, the houses were reasonable price then (1998-2002). Unless is with government agencies, health care, or the university, good job opportunities are limited. Usually the students leave the area after graduating, they just come to study. In holidays, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas it is almost a ghost town, only some international students stay. CS has a mall, great medical services, and many restaurants.
CS is mainly white (Caucasian) town. Bryan is more diverse, with areas where only Hispanics live or other where only African Americans live. I do not used to that, then that was a new experience for me. I am from Puerto Rico where whites, browns, and blacks are all mixed. In Bryan, I used to go to the Mexican restaurants and bakeries. Downtown Bryan has been renovated, then it is very nice nowadays. I even like to stop in the little "taquerias buses" that you can find around Bryan.
In one hour you can be in Houston, that is a plus. During spring, you can see bluebonnets, Indian Brush, and other wildflowers in bloom in the area. It is a spectacular view.
