Default Still Big Stuff - Still The Stuff of Texas

Whataburger is still a Texas tradition all the way. I still enjoy it after all these years. Fantastic burgers, chicken, breakfast, and the best fast-food fries (when they're served fresh) that I've ever had.

And they are about to open a new location in Frisco on Preston just north of Lebanon.

For a large chain, Whataburger is the best. Jack in the Box is tasteless.

A small but growing chain locally is Burger Island. Half pound burgers ground fresh every morning - never frozen. Their chili burger is to die for. Really.

For a few years there was a Jucy's in Mesquite. I think they are still open in Tyler. One of the best burgers I've ever had and their beans (free) were about the best I've ever had in my life. If anyone has their recipe.....I'll dance at your wedding!

The best burger I ever had in Texas was Lee's in Waco! Whataburgr is very good though, especially for a chain place. Wendy's is up there for me too.

I had a cheeseburger at the Greenville Avenue Bar & Grill (in Dallas) a couple of weeks ago that was absolutely superb, one of the best I've ever had. But that's WAY too far for me to drive (from south Fort Worth) just for a cheeseburger!

I like different types of cheeseburgers occasionally. As good as any of them are, sometimes a different style is a nice variation.

I agree about the fish sandwiches! They are really good.
LOL! Perhaps I should clairify, a Whatabutger is better than a regular Jumbo Jack, but I think the "fancy" and short term prmotional burgers at JITB (or the Carls $6 burgers) taste better than Whataburgers. I like the Mini-sirloin burgers, but I think they should be cheaper, or sold individually.

Whataburgers are ok, I usually like them better then McD, Wendys, BK, DQ and such, but the meat and bread taste kind of bland to me, and for some reason, they are never seem hot, even though they make them fresh. JMO

It all depends where you get it from. Whataburger has never been consistent with their food from place to place. At some locations in Waco they are great, but others are average.

I love the one in Houston on OST.

jluke65780: Exactly. The Whatatburger places vary quite a lot. I'm fortunate to live 1½ miles from a really great one, but another one which is even closer is mediocre. I went to one in Dallas once that was awful.

I think that could be said about any chain, except perhaps McD.

As a native Texan, I have had Whataburger my entire life, at locations thruout the state. Cant say I've ever had a GREAT hamburger there...

I like Whataburger. It's not my favorite place in the world, but it does beat the average local chain by far!
