I love Wichita Falls....I was born there. Of course I love the History around there too. A tiny town right outside of WF called Holliday was where my grandparents lived...Alot of history.

I am not a native Texan, but I had no choice in the decision. By definition, I am a native Californian. However, I have lived in Texas more than half my life. I don't hate ANY of the 50 UNITED States. Each state is unique and has its own beauty. To me, beauty is just not in the eye of the beholder, but also in the heart of the beholder.
To me, there is something about Texas that makes you feel that you're a part of it, something I never felt in California. Maybe it's because my ancestors started in the Midwest and some kept moving West, and now it has come full circle in that my family, with two native Texan daughters and two native Texan grandsons, have grown roots in Texas. With this in mind, it is easier to understand why people from all the states (and different nations) can feel the same way about their native or adopted area. To sum it up, no one state or area is better than the other as each person has their own place they call home.

Is Holliday a family name? If so I'd love to talk to you. Especially if any of them had any kin in Wise County which is not too far from WF.

Your post was well said with total respect and common sense, delightful and refreshing.

ILNC,

When you do leave Houston and move to the glorius mountains, I wish you and your husband the very best life has to offer.

Points taken, thanks. You're right, I'm not aware of how Texans are treated by others because I am not one and haven't experienced that. I'm just relaying MY experience with people I've met. Yes, that sucks if people give you a hard time from being from Texas and surely, people who move there should not go on and on about how where they come from is better, etc. I agree, THAT would be very annoying too.

Further, I certainly wasn't lumping anyone into a basket. Of course, not everyone is like this. Again, just relaying MY personal experiences. Seems like they must be skewed, I guess.

BTW---I LOVE that Lyle Lovett song. Maybe I'd fit in after all!

Hey Carolina, does living in Houston have anything to do with it? Out of all the big cities I'd live in, I think I'd rank Houston last.

No I would feel this way no matter where I lived in Texas, but you're right, Houston doesn't help.
