Not our fault that others didn't want to come in an discuss about any other cities in the thread? We did stay on topic.

I would say maybe 5 years, but that all depends on what happens with the military. Any major cuts could plummet Killeen's population. Killeen may or may not surpass Waco, but one thing I know, Waco will remain the primary city in this area. Killeen has one thing going for it, Ft. Hood. Waco has much much more; Industry, a major university and technical college, Interstate 35, a Downtown, numerous museums, 3 hospitals, and many other things that Killeen DOESN'T HAVE!
Don't be surprised if Waco makes a huge comeback!

In defense of Killeen (which I don't believe I'm doing), they are now starting to add more industry. Texas A&M is about to open a campus in their system there, there are rumors that the new tollroad that is east of Austin will extend to Killeen, it has the bigger and faster growing airport, a rebuilding downtown, and a growing hospital. I think Fort Hood will continue to grow more though but Killeen's population does depend on the military though.

Waco is doing the same thing. As well, as looking at expanding public transportation (at least for the downtown area).

So what will they do with Darnell and where exactly is this new hospital going? Can't be around Clear Creek because that's too close to Metroplex.

My vote goes to Corpus Christi. It's a good-sized town, not too far from either SA or Houston, and there are relatively nice beaches closeby (*almost* as nice as South Padre, but without the loooooong drive to get there).

You're right about the airport, but as far as downtown goes, I haven't seen any growth down there (unless you're referring to the mall/plaza area). The tollroad extending into Killeen is news to me, however there have been talks of DELL moving some of its offices into town.
