There are rude and arrogant people in every big cities. Yeah, Tyler has MANY wealthy people compared to other cities with population of 100K. I still wouldn't say they're arrogant.
Try Dallas.

Lol they might have been to referring to the pretentious population in Tyler that's supposed to be something similar to the upper crust folks of Dallas.

Tyler does have its socialite groups & elitist folks, most of them come from the "old money" families that used to have this town on a leash. They're slowly dying out though...not near as pretentious as it used to be around here, especially with the "new money" folks moving in from out of town & state.

When I think of it, from what I know of the two towns, it seems like Tyler and Longview will grow as an area more than individual cities. I can't see either one of them becoming the focus city. After all, it's 2009 and with a population of 100,000+ Tyler is still a dry city, while Longview isn't. They compliment each other.

Tyler is still much more "city" than Longview. There really isn't much to Downtown Longview, not even a single high rise building in the whole city.
As for the wet county/dry county debate, wine can be & is sold in Tyler as long as its produced in Texas. Parts of North Tyler & all of Winona will soon be able to sell beer if they vote for making it wet, the last vote which was a couple of weeks ago went 50/50.

You could also say the same thing for the Waco/Temple/Killeen area. They are usually grouped together and share the same news station. Between Temple and Waco, you got lots of small towns that are slowly growing.

El Paso: West of I35 (Excluding San Antonio and Austin) is where Texas suffers the most imo when it comes to the cites on the east. El Paso could easily become a great city attracting more people to the west because of the fact it dosen't have much competition in the west. It's already a major city, but now it needs to start creating an identity, I think it should look at LA or ABQ for inspiration.

I think Tucson and Phoenix would be better cities for El Paso to look at than LA.
