Corpus has always struck me as a place I would want to live the coastal life in Texas. Its an amazingly large city with a decent waterfront skyline as a backdrop.
Are there any White or Asian in the CC area, or is it mostly Latino?
I see Corpus as the next Texas city about to boom.

Corpus is roughly half Latino and half white, and has been for a while. There are a few black people and Asians but it isn't really noticible in the grand scheme of things.
Corpus is getting more Latino but it has very, very harmonious race relations and has for a long time.
It's a gorgeous town and it loves its small town feel--I can't see it booming when it's only a couple hours from San Antonio and when a lot of people won't go past Falfurrias when the come to the states.

I think Corpus Christi counts as a major city. I think it's 56th largest in the US??? Somewhere around there. Plus it just has a big city feel to it with a nice skyline and several surrounding cities. Yes the valley has a large population but there isn't really a hub with a big city feel. McAllen would be the closest thing but not anywhere close to being a major city in my opinion.

If Corpus is what you think of as a major city you need to get out more.

Actually I get out quite a bit...and yes Corpus Christi is major city. Sorry, but it's a fact. Just because it doesn't have a huge metro area population does not mean it isn't a major city of significance. I really think the top 100 city in America could be considered major cities and CC ranks around 58? 60? Don't quote me on that. Plus it has the 6th largest port in the nation and 3 military bases.
So in terms of population, significance and just the fact that people around the country have heard of it, make it a major city. Unless, maybe your unit of measure is how many Starbucks locations it has.

San Antonio is in Central Texas. South Texas includes C.C. to Laredo to the east.
I arrived in Harlingen in 1999 and was transferred out to El Paso in 2001. I couldn't believe the growth when I left there. WOW! (Hurricane Brett scared the hell out of me.)

Bowie, I think that proves more than anything else that San Antonio does not want to be affiliated with South Texas. Outsiders, real estate agents, geography types refer to San Antonio as being in "The north part of South Texas" where as natives and residents refer to San Antonio being in "South Central Texas". So there you have it, Valley/CC/Laredo defenders. San Antonio residents would rather refer to themselves as having a name affiliated with one of the most violent ghettos on the west coast as opposed to you.
