I said they don't offer half of what TX has to offer meaning culture, scenery, events, etc.
I agree with you Spade and that is the point I'm getting at. I stated that if were talking just about TX than I feel like I was right with what I said, but if were talking nationally, it would be Houston and Dallas. As well as San Antonio and Austin.
A major city dosen't = an international city.

Well San Antonio and Austin are regional cities. But they aren't major cities. There's only two that registers to the rest of the nation from Texas and that's Houston and Dallas.

For anyone saying San Antonio isn't a major city, you got to be kidding me. How is it possible a city of over 2M to not be a major city?!? It is already bigger than the metro areas of Kansas City and Indianapolis and everybody talks about those.

i read in a local newspaper article in the Valley, that McAllen's population has passed Brownsville! (it's a estimated until the official 2010 census)... so McAllen is now the Valley's largest city!

You know, a totally different way to rank "major" cities in Texas would be to quiz out-of-staters about what Texas cities they can name off the top of their head. That would probably help out Waco a bit, and hurt places like Lubbock, Midland/Odessa and the RGV. My guess is that the "off the top of their head" list for someone who has never been to TX would be:
Dallas
Houston
San Antonio
Austin
Waco
El Paso
