Well, if you include Juarez in the metro population of El Paso (since they are basically adjacent and in many ways 1 single population center), it's over 2 million people... fairly major, especially for the region. Possibly larger than the SA metro area, definitely larger than Austin. I think Juarez is the 6th or 7th largest city in Mexico.

My description includes:
- 500,000K + population.
- International airport with a variety of domestic and international destinations.
- diverse demographics.
- established economic base with several F1000 corporations.
- several public and private colleges and universities.
- an array of cultural and public ammentities (museums, art galleries, parks).
- pro sports teams.
- suburb(s)
|
I don't go by that and many others don't either. You guys are thinking about international cities. It seems people each have a different opinion of what a major city.

But, Tyler, Killeen, Galveston and Waco? They still don't strike me as major cities even by Texas standards.

Miami and St. Louis (among others) are disqualified by that first statement alone.

Good point.
I have a habit of assuming MSA size and not actual city.
