Well, I just bought a house, built in 1950 and while it's in good condition there's minor updates I'm doing. And the backyard, well, the back back yard has been neglected. Between the two back yards there's a garage and while the neither back yard is large there's some work to be done.

I've just finished taking down the forest in the backest yard and now have to reduce the disassembled parts to trash pick up requirements and then reduce the mulchable stuff to a collection pile. After that, I have to pitch the stuff over the fence so the city can pick it up. Then get grass to grow when the sun hasn't shone for a few years. I did leave the old pecan tree that spans about 50-60 feet across. I believe it must be original to the property.

Now, as for the garage, there never was a concrete finish to it but there is a concrete border about a foot high and walls and good roof. I want to take off the siding, replace with studs with fewer 4x4's, fill in the pit and top with brick, all to make a gazebo sort of area. I've spent lots of years in apt's and condo's so I'm looking forward to the backyard experience. About time I got my hands dirty and calloused.

And then go indoors to some refreshing AC and iced tea. And oh yeah, following the College World Series as long as Texas and/or Rice are playing.

We plan on taking a trip up into the Ouachita Mountains of Oklahoma to rent a cabin a couple of times. In the higher elevations, it can get quite cool at night.

As soon as you move to the Later state , you can write a lot of memoirs.

You can't go wrong with either baseball team, good air-conditioning, or iced tea. You'll have a wonderful time with that new backyard so you can have a bunch of C-D friends coming over.

Summer plans, My wife and I are empty nesters now so we have two biggies this summer.
Our kids are sending us on an Alaskan cruise for our 30th wedding anniversary. The cool thing is my wife and I will be on the ship ON our anniversary.
We didn't get to have a honeymoon because we got married the day after I got out of boot camp and I had to check into my school the day after we got married.

The other thing is we're building our first and last house. It should be ready to move into about three weeks after we get back from our cruise.

Yes, We're a blessed couple!

First on the agenda.......a cruise to Alaska! Shopped for a new coat this weekend.....do you know how hard it is to find a coat in the stores in Texas this time of year!!! After that.....I'll be under the A/C watching hubby ride the mower and work in the yard by the hour. I'll also be putting up the vegetables he'll bring in from his big garden. So nice to have a man that loves the dirt and sun!!
