Question Documents for Paid-Off Mortgage?

We're about to pay of our mortgage...yippee!! I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what type of documents we should expect from the mortgage lender and exactly what our responsibilities are? Thanks.

Biggest thing is to make sure the release of lien is filed at your county clerk's office. There are more papers, I'm sure someone more knowledgable can say more.

We received the original mortgage(s) stamped paid..I paid off two different mortgages about the same time... One I had to go the county court house and pay for a copy of the release of lien, the other one thru Bank of America sent me a release of lien from our county court house and they paid for it.

And they both notified the count court house that I had paid them off...I think that took about one month, but I could be wrong on that time...

This is a nice problem to have isn't it?

I need to go look at my paperwork and make sure I got that release of lien.
