I think the Woodlands is very similar to certain areas of the DFW area. It may not be as much like Grapevine (I was just using it as an example), but if you want to compare it piece for piece, the Woodlands is VERY similar to Southlake.

Yeah, Southlake is a much better example. Both on rolling terrain, but the Woodlands sits in a forest.

I'll give you Southlake, but Grapevine is very much different from the Woodlands imo.

However, I think you'll find that tornadoes usually travel with the storms from west to east and that they are more common in Fort Worth and the storms many times will 'peter out' as far as tornadoes go by the time they get to Dallas. We've only had one major tornado in Dallas in 153 years and that was in 1957 - 10 killed I believe. But the whole town could see it coming from the west and most folks just watched (so my parents told me).

Check the radar - it starts falling apart when it gets close to Dallas.

Yea....Hurricane talk brought Ike to Houston lol. I swear there was a huge debate about how rare it is for hurricanes to hit Houston, and like a few weeks later mother nature brought us Ike!

I like to call Fort Worth the Shield...

the Dallas side of the Metroplex gets heavy rain and wind, but very rarely gets tornadoes. Fort Worth takes the brunt of the damage for us.
