Default moving could use some advice.

I'm currently living in Henderson NV, and i'm relocating to Texas. I need to pick a city either Houston or Dallas. I'm a single mother of 2. I would like a safe, culturaly diverse city with good public schools. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks!!

1. What kind of work do you do?
2. Will you be renting or buying a home or apartment?
2a. Price range?
3. How long of a commute would you like?
4. Any other important criteria, such as a special needs child, proximity to an airport, etc.?
