Rocket01 is on a distinguished road
I absolutely agree with cobalt. Amarillo is much slower paced than Ft. Worth but this can be a good thing. What it lacks in amenities, it more than makes up for in friendly people. Traffic is not a problem and you can get anywhere in town in 20 minutes or less. It is not unusual for people to offer assistance and Amarilloans tend to watch out for their neighbors. The area is pretty religious and conservative. The schools are good for the most part. Generally, crime is low unless you are on the north side of town or around criminal elements found in every town. There are activities such as minor league hockey, baseball, arena football, hands-on science center, parks, Palo Duro Canyon, etc. There is plenty to do if you look. The good thing is that there are not as many people to compete with in activities compared to a larger city. Hope this info helps.

Lubbock has more to offer than Amarillo. Could be the happy medium between Fort Worth and Amarillo. I'd also say it's a little less isolated and certainly not as cold and snowy in the winter -- that 120 miles between the two makes a significant difference.
