Laredo, Mcallen, or El paso?
ok this is what im looking for..im looking on the american side..a city, decent size that has the best chance of me find work(i do speak spanish so that's not a problem) and also a complimentary mexican city across the border that is just as good like say as in singles and night life(im a 31 yr old bachelor), and of decent size..i moved to eagle pass and i was there for a yr but i unfortunately lost the job and had to move back..piedras negras was ok but it was hard to find older singles there and in eagle pass everything is too small.
Since i will be living on the mexican side, bridge traffic is important..i passed by laredo and the wait time was like and 1 1/2 hrs and i don't know how it is for the RGV and el paso. Can anyone tell me? thanks in advance..btw i'm not too sure about mcallen..since it's not right by the border..

McAllen easily. Businesses and jobs are popping up constantly. Honestly whenever I go back they've added something new and I can no longer recognize a lot of parts of it. Areas that used to be "the ghetto" are now flourishing neighborhoods built up of upper-middle to high income earning residents. Downtown has been renovated to accustom more to night life needs as well as areas on 10th street. It may not be Houston or Dallas but it is A LOT better than it was 10 years ago. Population 127,245, and as long as you don't aspire to be a drug lord, you'll be relatively safe. Reynosa is across the border about 15mi. away, although right now few border towns are really safe to travel into but it is less dangerous than Juarez and Nuevo Laredo. The women there, seem to gravitate towards white males a lot, (from what I've noticed going back home every year), and speaking spanish is only putting you higher up on the hierarchy. I think you'll have it made in Mac-Town. Also crossing the border has never taken too long, I think the longest I waited ever was like 25min which only happened once but maybe I'm a lucky one.

You need to read about the cross-border drug violence. I hear Laredo is pretty bad... Eagle Pass is so isolated that they haven't had many problems with it.

El Paso is probably the best city, although there is no way I'd be living in or going to Juarez. So you might be better off with McAllen. It is 5-6 miles to the border in McAllen, whereas El Paso is directly on the river. Of course, it all depends on what part of town you are in.

and that's the thing because i speak spanish and i have lived in mexico before so i do know how it is, but that is why im looking for a good american city for jobs and a good mexican city for the social/night hour. I just do not want something so big to wear it takes hours to cross the bridge. So typically how long does it take to cross the bridge at mcallen..does mcallen have a high mexican culture..i ask that because you have to know spanish if you are going to make it in eagle pass..no exceptions..also i was kinda wanting a town on the river but u never know..maybe mcallen is the best..

McAllen does have a high Mexican influence and spanish is spoken frequently. Night life is good, it may not be Austin but it gets the job done, pretty chill environment, laid back. Doesn't take long to cross the border, nowhere near as bad as El Paso. McAllen is growing a lot as I said in my last post so that's usually a hint that jobs are available. McAllen is close to the river. Depending where you live in McAllen it's anywhere from 5-15 miles away max.
