Default Lavernia,TX

Is it possible for folks who live in or near Lavernia to tell me alittle about the town.
Crime, cost of living...just the usual info. Good and the bad.

I mean I notice when looking for homes in that area, many new homes(never lived in) are forsale. Is this area trying to build itself up?

Thanks

Hey there KerryMac,

I live in Adkins (neighboring area to La Vernia). I also sold real estate in and around the area for 3 years (not currently, 2003 to 2006). La Vernia has always been a small town with farming and livestocks roots. People enjoy the area as it is not too far from San Antonio (about 40 minute drive into downtown SA), but worlds apart from city living. The area has been growing for many yeras now, but still has that country feel to it. There are many home developers building big beautiful homes on acre plus lots in the area, giving those city people who want to be country people that opportunity. The area has an abundance of oak trees, but much of La Vernia does have sand as their soil type. I can't imagine that there is any crime in La Vernia, but there also is not a whole lot of anything going on. As far as cost of living goes, you would do well to buy a home in La Vernia if you can afford the $200K + range; an equivalent home in Boerne would be $300K. There are less expensive homes to be sure, but the best deals are in that range. Smaller homes actually may seem expensive, but when you consider an acre lot versus the typical city lot of .15 to .20 of an acre, you can understand the value in the land.

I hope I didn't ramble too much.
