Moving to Southern Texas from Michigan with a horse (Harlingen: association, farm)

I am a high shcool student and i have a 9 year old TB mare and my dad just recently had a job offer and we are moving the family to Harlingen area from Michigan. not quiet sure exactly where yet... I havent been down there yet so i havent been able to look around but i have been searching on the web and cant find a barn to board my horse at or a trainer i ride Dressage and eventing and would like to board at an eventing or dressage barn but for now i will settle with just a boarding facility until i know the area.

So does anyone know of a barn within an hour of driving from Harlingen area????

Brooke, there should be plenty of places, lots of horse people in the area. My nephew is a roper and use to rope in Los Fresnos. Are you coming down to visit at all before you move? I'll ask my sister and see if she knows of any places and get back to you here on the board if so.

Hello, I am also moving to Harlingen in June. I grew up in the area and my Husband and I are moving back. I have been looking for places for my horse as well. If you don't mind the commute, there is Farasi Farm in Los Fresnos, TX. Their website is http://www.farasifarm.com/blog.html I have my horse at this farm at the moment. In Harlingen itself, I found Classic Farm and Stable while driving around, but upon talking to the owner, she's retiring in a few months. Her clients are in the process of finding other stables. She gave me the website for the local Arab association to look for a place to board. www.rgvahc.com I will let you know if I learn anything else. I just got a call back from another barn. They do Hunters and AQHA shows. It's called Rancho Del Sol and If you want to contact them I can give you their number via email. I doubt it's what you want since AQHA hunters are sooo differently trained than eventers. Anyway, I'm still looking, so If I hear anything, I'll post it here.
