Older Germans living in New Braunfels
Looking for someone who lives many years in New Braunfels, is German or likes German food and remember a German deli shop located outside the city limit ( in 90's) - a very small blue and white building where you could buy homemade sausages, bread and pastries.

Oma's is on 46 (i think outside the city limits) has been there for years. I wouldn't call the building small, but i think it's blue & white.
Granzin's sells meats & bakery products (& has for years) but i don't think the building is blue & white.
Naeglin's is on the plaza & doesn't sell sausages so it's not the one (but is worth mentioning....just because ).
I want to think there was a place just north of the RR tracks just off Walnut that fits your description....if Oma's isn't your place I'll slueth around for that place.

Significant other said to ask are you sure it was outside the city limits, and if so which direction? He also asked if it was on a hill or if there is any other info you can remember.
He keeps running down a list and shaking his head. He said it may be Schwancoug's (spelling?) which was up on a hill on Walnut Rd (46?) on the west edge of town. It also had a beer garden. It has been out of business for a while.

German deli
Hound 109 - I know the other places, but this one was a real small, old "shed" on a small road, painted white with some blue touch, couple steps in the front. The butcher was from Germany and used to make an awesome sausages. This was in beginning 90's - maybe 91-93 or so. I tried to find it, but could not remember my way there lol
They sold great bread and delicious apple strudel.
To Poltracker: can't say that was in the city limit but sure way out "in the bunnies " No beer garden, no tables and possibilities to eat there ( at least at that time). I don't think, they sold any alcohol there. Just a little place, maybe 3 steps up, 6 steps in; the counter was across the entry door, right and left some shelfs with sweets, cans etc. from Germany.
I think there was a small truck or trailer on the right of the store - for delivery. Getting old isn't fun - I don't remember much anymore
If you, or your parents remember Anita's Catering - she used to buy there a lot.
Thank you guys for helping me!

I want to think that the place just off Walnut (& the RR tracks) was called Europa. Interestingly, a phone search didn't show a Europa in NB....but one in suburban San Antonio. Could this be the place?
Europa Deli & Market
& I lived near Schwampkrugs (on Walnut near the HS).....it was a dumpy restaurant & the food was average & expensive (imo). Not surprised they went under.

I believe what Hound said is correct. My SO's father said he remebered a place that fit your description near the RR tracks on Walnut. He could not remember the name and said it has been closed for a while.

Hound 109… You are absolutely right! It rings in my clouded memory. Europa sounds familiar and Walnut too…. especially the RR tracks. I googled it, and yes! The place is located on 1162 Eikel St. (Europa Fine Food). To bad that is closed now.
The other place in San Antonio is closed too.
Such a big German community and no REAL German food store or restaurant. I tried them all in radius of, say 80 miles. Those few left I would call “American food German style” or maybe the other way around ?(lol). The closest to real German taste was, in my humble opinion, the restaurant in Kirby on FM 78. Closed right now, but I heard that it would reopen soon.
Thank you all very much for helping me in that matter.
