Tell me about Pontotoc, Llano, San Saba (Austin, Spring: Home Depot, purchase)

We live in the Ft.Worth area and we're looking to purchase a large peice of property somewhere that's more in the "country". Right now we're looking at the Hill Country b/c it is so beautiful there. I came across a place in Pontotoc that is partly in Llano and partly in San Saba county. The pictures of the property are incredible.

I was wondering if any of you are familiar with this area. Looks like Brady and Llano are the closest cities and they are pretty small. Honestly I'm wondering, "Where's the closest Wal-Mart?"

Also, is there anything about this area that makes it undesirable...things the websites don't tell you?

Closest Wal Mart to San Saba is Lampasas or Brownwood. Closest to Llano is Marble Falls. Horseshoe Bay is a nice area near Marble Falls if you can afford it.

I think you would like the area. It is quiet, clean, affordable. Most of the people are laid back. There is not alot to do in the way of entertainment, and you will have to drive a ways to find some big stores. But it is a very nice area.

If you want to be in the country, and I mean REALLY in the country (ie, no Target, Starbucks, or small Korean cars) then you will enjoy the area. It is not on the edge of a city where you can be at a mall in 15 minutes. It is beautiful and would be a great investment. I'd live there if I could.

We also are looking to move further out into the hill country. We live outside of Dripping Springs and Austin is fast approaching. I admit that when I read about San Saba that there was no Wal Mart, Target, etc. & checking other info found there was no Home Depot, I thought YES!!! I love shopping in and getting to know the owners of local businesses. That's one of the joys of small-town living that I truly miss.
