Default Texas Weather

Is there anywhere in TX where it's not unbelievably hot/humid in summer? North TX maybe?

Amarillo, Lubbock, Marfa. Mostly areas to the West and deep southwest. Marfa mainly because of it's elevation. Amarillo and Lubbock are somewhat higher in elevation (than DFW) as well. DFW (North Texas) is HOT in the summer. I've grown quite accustomed to it though and it doesn't bother me so much. There are days where it's sweltering, but the winters here are a great trade-off; not too cold.

This whole state is beastly hot. I don't know about Lubbock and Amarillo, but Marfa, Fort Davis, and Alpine get terribly hot, but not humid. Their summer nights are much cooler than we have in the DFW area.

I once thought about moving out there, but it didn't take me long to change my mind. It is extremely unattractive in west Texas, and it really isn't much better in any of the towns.

I went in May and it everything was terribly brown. I asked a guy in Alpine if it were ever green and he said, "Yes, during our monsoon rains in July."

I agree with KewGee. I can't think of ANY place in Texas that has good weather and this is a BIG state. So in my opinion the answer to you question is no.

wouldnt Dalhart be an area that is not VERY hot in the summer? i know it is arid, not humid at all..............
p.s. ya know, everyone focuses on humidity......but my sister lives on Kauai where the humidity is about the same percentage every day as it is here in South Texas, and YES we have gulf breezes here and it's quite windy here..so to me, it is "balmy".....ya wanna feel humid? go to coastal Georgia or anywhere in Mississippi........thats where you feel so sticky when ya walk outside that you might as well not even bothered showering. at least here in South Texas, there is always a breeze, making it somewhat tolerable. i prefer arid desert weather myself and wont be here long, but i never figured out why everyone complains about the humidity here-it aint nothing like it is in Dixieland

Gosh it is gorgeous right now in Dallas - the sidewalk cafes are full, White Rock Lake is teeming with people jogging, walking, biking and there's a regatta this weekend. The dog parks are full, people are strolling historic Fair Park, everyone is in their yards, on their porch swings, walking to the store instead of driving, etc..

Everyone plans vacation when it gets really hot. So a lot of people leave town for Europe, LaJolla, Colorado, etc. It's a tradition. After the 4th of July celebrations, forget planning anything until school and football starts..

I was in FL and SC in only May and the humidity made it harder to breathe.Since only living on the east coast I've been curious about the differences in humidity/dewpoints in other areas.

Yes, these areas are dry. Considered semi-arid climate. I grew up in Lubbock. That's the main thing I still miss (living in Dallas area now) after all these years-the low, low humidity there!

Agreed. The number one reason I left was the heat.

The humidity here in Dallas is nothing compared to many other places. In all my years I've yet to get as hot and sticky as I did when I've been in Florida. One day while in Key West I had on lightweight breathable clothing (linen and cotton). I was ready to ditch all undies as they were sticking to me something awful. At least here I can cool off in the shade or inside. Down there no such thing as "inside" w/ some a/c. We came back from Florida that August just to cool off.

I'm hoping todays weather will continue for Saturday as I'll be out in it all day drinking margaritas at the temp. Margarittaville in Frisco.

Today was AWESOME!!!!!! I went out to the mall, Firewheel since it is our new outdoor mall. Walked the entire thing this afternoon before getting the kids from school and never broke a sweat.
