Default Wow! I just went by the Medical center today

I can't believe how HUGE that place is. It extends way south of holcombe. I drove down fannin and south Main and it just keeps going and going. I also can't believe all of the construction that is going on there. There are cranes everywhere.

I'm sure if we had all the major hospitals in Dallas located in one district it would be huge too. I know Dallas has two growing medical districts. The Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas in East Dallas and the Southwestern Medical District in the Stemmons Corridor. BUMC just completed it's new Cancer Center a few months ago and the Southwestern Medical District is expanding too. When the Southwestern Medical District expansion is finished it will add 3.8 million sq ft of space. The New Parkland Memorial Hospital will have 2.5 million sq ft of space and The expansion of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas will have 1.3 million sq ft of space.

Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas

Southwestern Medical District

contrary to popular belief the major hospitals are NOT located in the med center. From the top 25 biggest hospitals in Houston only 2 are located in the med center. The biggest one is in the SW, NOT the med center.

I can't believe you think we have all our major hospitals in the med center I told you earlier that Hermann alone has 11 hospitals around Houston. There are huge complexes in the NW, SW, North Houston, on the westside etc.

It is silly to say all the major hospitals are in the med center. If that was true the med center would be ten times bigger than it is now.

Dallas may have two growing medical districts but Houston probably has 8

That's a lot of beds.

The hospitals in the Texas medical center are not that big bedwise. The biggest is Methodist with about 900 beds. Memorial Hermann in the med center has about 860 beds

when I said the biggest hospital had 900 beds, I meant biggest in the Med center.

I think Methodist SW has about 1500 beds
Original Methodist has 1300 beds
There are a couple huge Memorial Hermann hospitals too.

Ben Taub has about 700 beds
St Lukes Has about 900 beds
