Default No place special...

That's the kind of place I like and I know of towns that are just fading away into oblivion along the panhandle bordering NM. Can anyone tell me about these little pan handle areas along the NM border? The kinds of towns where the locals would raise an eyebrow to hear someone new was taking up residence and wonder if they needed to have their head examined.

I am very accustomed to folks wondering what on earth I am thinking...

Tell me, how can you have a reputation of over 10,000 with only 5,000 posts. What subjects do you talk about that people agree with you so much? I talk statistics and technical stuff that few would know if I'm right or not or care, so I know, it least partly, why I have few reps. I tell folks where something is or what apartments are in which area, stuff such as that, that people don't give reps on and do you think they just don't agree with me? Just curious.

Most of my reps come from five threads. The first three are under the states category in Maine, Florida & West Virginia and most come from Other Topics. In particular, the Question of the day
Today's Question Monday 8-31-09 hosted by Karla With a K
and the Daily Pet Peeve Today's Pet Peeve 31 Aug 09 which I host.

If someone clicks on the [+] at the lower left of the post they agree with, it will count as only one point. However, if they want to add a statement or comment, they will click on the scale symbol at the upper right corner of the post. That leaves 5 rep points each and every time.

There are some threads that weigh only as one point even when you click on the scales like the various games. It takes a while to get the hang of it. I don't think that people disagree with you as much as they just don't know about the scales being worth 5 points.

I didn't know about that 1 pt/5 pt thing. Thanks for the info!

Lots of little towns are losing population. Those which aren't on or near an Interstate, and which have no special claim to exist any more, just don't have much to offer. Rather sad, actually.

NoTrees. You want to move to NoTrees, TX. A little farther into deep West Texas than the panhandle, but I think that is exactly the place you are describing.
