Actually, I voted for America the Beautiful. I bet you that the AtB supporters are all Democrats or liberal independents.

Reb, that just might be one of the best quotes I've ever heard! Love it!

That thought would have never entered my mind, but it might be a good observation.

seen your posts many places and again I disagree with you. That is a silly statement. My husband and I are far from liberals and we both agree on AmtB..What would make you come up with a thought like that?

Nita

ps, I don't think this needs to be turned into anyother political post by the way.

America the Beautiful is idealistic, while the SSB is bellicose. Hence I would expect that liberals would be more likely to favour AtB and conservatives the SSB.

Right on.

And Lee Greenwood's song is a piece of jingo-istic crap that was used by oodles of people to capitalize on the misery of 911. The day that becomes our anthem is the day I revoke my citizenship.

oh for heavens sake, what a statement that is. I don't think we have to worry about it becoming our anthem so you are safe.

I was a kid in the 1960s and dad was in the Army. Before a school play I was in the National Anthem was played and I still see my dad standing at attention, saluting. The sight made a wave of pride in Nation and father rush through me.

Many years later when I was in the Navy my daughter saw the same thing in HER dad at a program at the base I was stationed at.

It shouldn't be changed.
