Black Barbershops in Abilene TX (Howe, Mart: fit in, military, shopping center)

Hi my son is being sent to Abilene,TX by the FAA to work as an air traffic controller. Where can a black man get a GOOD haircut? Are there any clubs where they play R&B and soul music? He will be there in February after his training ends in Oklahoma City so keep sending replys at least until March.

I would think any barber shop would work.I would be afraid to give anyone a bad hair cut.good luck.

Unless things have changed, the African-American population in that part of Texas is pretty tiny. If you or your son have any way of getting in touch with Black airmen and officers at the AFB out there, that might provide some good leads (though in respect to haircuts, I'm sure the airmen just get their haricuts on base).

Army bases are the worst places to get your haircuts. Unless you want to be nearly bald.

I'm not saying that military bases are good places for haircuts, just that enlisted personnel (not even NCOs) are likely to use base facilities. It's an AF base in Abilene; not army BTW.

Haircuts if he specifically wants a black person cutting his hair, he will have to go to the north side of town, he will not find it on the south side which is where the AF base is located. However next to across from Wal-Mart in the shopping center near Cold Stone Creamery is a place just for men that is awesome head massage, straight shaves, the works it a great place for a haircut.
R&B clubs let me think.....Most are country most Hip Hop clubs never make it there and end up shutting down. Lucky Mule is country but they play a little of everything, quite a bit of hip hop. Its a nice place, it may be technically a country bar but he will fit in just fine.
