Recently, it's been Katy. They have like four or five 5A championships since 2000. They won this year and last year, too, actually.

Don't foreget, when we talk about state champions, there are always two 5A state champions, so like 18 -20 since 2000, however you want to figure it. So they have been spread around among the differnet teams quite a bit.

The best players usually come out of the Central Texas area.

^^The Houston area has the most or second most players in the NFL (Miami is either first or second).

Calallen from Corpus Christi has a really good team. They have been to the playoffs every year since 1985. Sure they have never won a state title, but have made one appearance at the state championship where they lost to Lewisville Hebron 28-0. Calallen had almost 1,300 students. Lewisville Hebron had over 2,500.

Best fan support for ANY highschool is without a doubt Port Neches-Groves High School. Not many state Championships ... 3 in fact!
Book written about PN-G football (the author is the present superintendent in Blanco).
Down Trails of Victory
This statement from Wiki:
"Record attendances include the all-time Texas high school record and national high school record of 49,953 at Texas Stadium for the 1977 State Championship game against the Plano Wildcats."
Port Neches-Groves High School - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Attendance:

Football
The cities of Port Neches and Groves total a population of around 30,000 ... yet playoff games regularly turn out 30K+. Only other program enjoying similar fan support would be Odessa Permian.
I might add when PN-G was dominating 4A football in the 70's they did so with a total enrollment of less than 1500 and regularly played the big city schools with 3,000+. This was when 4A was the big school classification and only one team from the district went to the playoffs.

Nope. They were knocked out last year in the first round I think. They didn't win the year before either because Katy and Trinity won the two 5A state titles in Texas.
