Best Texas Beer
Texas might not have the best beer, but they still have some good beer.

Shiner Bock is good beer. So are the Rahr Brewery beers here in Ft Worth. They have a lot of character.

Where is Saint Arnold in the poll? Its brewed down in Houston.
Oh & Lone Star isn't a Texas based beer company anymore, it hasn't been since 2000.

Ziegenbock isn't even a "true" Texas beer. Its owned by Anheuser-Busch of St. Louis Missouri.

St. Arnold's won a gold medal in an American Beer Contest. Can't find the link.

I put other for Real Ale out of Blanco. Rahr Red is too hoppy for me. St. Arnold's is alright.

Shiner Bock was good before they were bought out around 91 or so. Then they started brewing all their beers with rice like every macro brewer does and now the flavor and texture is a lot thinner. If I want rice alcohol, I'll drink Saki.

Shiner Bock has never been an all malt beer. Whether the adjunct is rice or corn - it is merely a step up in character from the Big 3. As most knowledgeable beer drinkers know it isn't even a real Bock beer.
The original selections in this poll are too limited.
I agree with The Real Ale beers. The Full Moon Pale Rye is an excellent pale ale.
I find St. Arnold beers too yuppie-fied in most cases. They are well-crafted, but toned down for the masses. Kind of like a Hunan restaurant that doesn't make their food spicy.

There are so many good Texas breweries beyond the Lone Star and Shiner. Of the three on the poll, Shiner would win with their black lager.
But here's what I really like:
Live Oak Hefeweizen. It has become my go to summer beer. Their Big Bark is a pretty tasty amber ale.
One of the new kids on the block: Southern Star has an excellent American Pale Ale that you can find in HEBs now. Just tried their blonde ale this weekend and I think that's going to be a contender against Real Ale's Fireman's 4.
