I travel to Midland 3-4 times a year for work. Plenty of restaurants, both the chain restaurants and local restaurants. I think most of the "historic" residential districts are south of the downtown area and not in a good neighboorhood. There are some older homes just north and west of the downtown area that are smaller and well kept. I am sure there are plenty of country bars and clubs there, but I don't know about any other types.

City of Midland, TX... Points of Interest

Midland does have a designated historic district, and the streets (going from memory) that come to mind are Branson, Holloway, College, Missouri, Michigan, Indiana, Tennessee and Ohio--mostly in the south-central to southwest older section. You have some beautiful restored homes interspersed with rundown junkers.

The restaurants and HEB are what I miss the most, especially Tampico's on Wall Street....
