I can't find anything on the site saying how she plans to fund schools at all. She's for eliminating property taxes all together.

Anybody but Goodhair or Kilgore. Since Kilgore doesnt have a shot in hell, we dont have to worry about him.

I would be for Hutchison or that moderate Democrat thats running.

I don't think I ever met a Texan that actually liked Rick Perry, but somewhere they must exist in large numbers because this idiot keeps getting elected. Who are these people? Where do they live? What is wrong with them?

I have. Someone I like very much was disagreeing with one of his positions and started the conversation with how much she loves Perry, but... . I politely kept my mouth shut.

UT is a lot more conservative than people say. Also what is with their current President. He is an ex-ENRON director and he ratted out his own people to congress. Ughhhhhhhhh.

He is pushing politically motivated people into the UT system. Perry has made it his stated goal to push more right wing professors into UT and A&M.
Which is utterly ridiculous. You hire in the University system based on merit, stature, and competance. Someones political orientation shouldnt even be a consideration.

Basically he's done. He screwed up major league when he started messing with UT in a politically motivated way.

An Aggie pushing his political agenda onto UT? No it didnt go over too well with many of the states most powerful people who happen to be UT grads.

Put a fork in him he is done.

Yeah UT has a lot of conservative alum so does A&M. Still the idea of valuing political affiliation more than competency and conducting witch hunts against liberal staff is abhorrent to most of those conservatives.
Its simple hire based on merit, competancy, and academic stature. Everything else will sort itself out.

They don't care about competency there at UT Austin. It's that easy to understand.

This story doesn't surprise me at all. I literally despise Perry! It's long overdue for this arrogant, corrupt politician to go away. I will be voting for Hutchison.

Orbitus you have NO CLUE about Robin Hood... Understand it first and then discuss it. I'm an attorney on a school board in a Chapter 41 District. We are rich district NOT because of what we make its because of retired people with no kids in school living on the ocean. In fact--- more than 60% of our kids are low enough income to qualify for reduced cost lunch and of our 3000 students 111 are HOMELESS. Robin hood would be ok if it used more than one criteria for wealth.

Perry is nasty and hopeless. I tried to cut taxes this fiscal year but the way school finance is- districts pay a penalty if they dont tax enough - so local areas and govts bear the burden and Perry can say he's holding the budget in line.
