For as small a town as it is, there are quite a few posts in this forum about life in Alpine, some of which may answer your questions. I highly recommend that you look for the "Search this Forum" feature here and do a search for "Alpine."

I don't plan to move there, but having visited, I find it intriguing because it's so isolated and in many ways different from other parts of Texas.

Bella.....go to top R of page, click on 'search'...type in 'alpine' then click on 'show posts'.......then do the same with 'show threads'. There are many posts......hope they are helpful.

The City of Alpine Texas website appears to have much of the info you mentioned.

bella14: Alpine, along with Marfa and Fort Davis, are my favorite places in Texas. The only real disadvantage (unless you're looking for a job there) is that they are a long way from anywhere else. But in some ways that's an advantage! I love it out there.

Default Need CURRENT info on Alpine...might be moving

I've looked at the OLD threats on Alpine (from 2006).
Looking for more recent info from folks that really know Alpine.
We're probably being transfered with a federal job. I'm a stay home mom and we have a 5 year old kindergartener.
We're asking for folks to give us their input on everyday living in Alpine: schools, churches, stores, gas stations, housing, community, internet companies, supermarkets, things to do, weather, drives....everything and anything you could possibly think of passing along to us would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Bella, the 2006 date you are looking at is on the right side of reply. Look on the blue part LEFT side, and that is the date of the post. okay? There are lots of recent posts on Alpine. Good luck to you.
