Falconhead West: our budget would allow allow up to 750,000k. I have done some research on the water situation and seen some devastating pictures! Really gives me cause to reconsider!

$750K will buy you waterfront Lake Travis unless you are in a controlled upscale community such as Lakeway. Those kinds of communities are not rural-feeling at all.

But in areas such as Briarcliff, Spicewood, Lago Vista, etc. $750K is enough.

As for the drought....post your concerns and perhaps some here can comment. I have lived in the Lake Travis area since 1985.

Well, remember, this was the worst drought in half a century, so you're seeing it at most likely its very worst.

A quick look at the MLS, using your criteria, turns up 56 waterfront (lake, river, or creek) houses of 2700 sq. ft. or more on an acre or more for $750,000 or less (sometimes a LOT less), in the general Austin area. That's everywhere from the lake area to Bastrop to Georgetown to Liberty Hill to Dripping Springs.

You really shouldn't have any problem finding what you're looking for, I don't think.
