With homemade chili, Frito pies are wonderful........topped with onions, salsa and cheese!

Now I'm getting hungry.

Now, I gotta 'fess up and say I disagree with most of my fellow native Texans on ONE issue. That is, the proper way to cook/eat steak.

I like mine cooked.

I HAVE "improved" over the years. Used to, if I didn't need a hammer and chisel to cut it, then put the damn thing back on the fire. It was even a running joke among my friends that, when we would all stay at the lake for a weekend, and had the usual steaks on Saturday night, for somebody to say -- right after breakfast -- well, we better get Randy's steak on the grill so it'll be done by suppertime....

BUT...friends actually conviced me to try it WITH the natural juices. And gotta admit they had a point. SO NOW, it just medium well done.

Default How Soon I Forget......

Still two more things I've forgotten: french fries and onion rings. In a state where the onion ring was practically invented, I don't know how a guy like me can leave something like that out.

I like chow-chow, although that's not really unhealthy. Okay, hushpuppies and buffalo wings with ranch or blue cheese dipping sauce. And queso with rotel and chips. There, that's some unhealthy.

I don't know what has happened to Ro-Tel tomatoes, but they sure are nasty now. I won't buy them again, and I need to find some use for the last 3 cans in my pantry.

Meatloaf, I guess.....

Didn't know Ro-tel took a nose dive. Been away from TX for a few years, and we don't get them in this neck of the woods. But I grow my own tomatoes, which is always better anyway.

Oh, very definitely true.

My last tomato bush is setting more fruit. I wheel it in at night (it's on a stand) and keep it out during the day. The daytime temps here are still in the high 60s-70s.

I think they changed Ro-tel when it changed ownership a few years ago.
