I guess the bought equivalent would be salt and vinegar chips, which I love.
Do you dip them in sweet pickle juice...or dill?

I haven't done that in years, but it was dill juice...But you may be on to something there with the sweet juice...

an enchilada plate served on an aluminum platter that'll take your skin off if you touch it.
CFS tender enough to cut with a fork, but with a fried shell that's just crispy enough,* with mashed potatoes and peppery gravy over all of it. black-eyed peas cooked in hog fat on the side. yeasty rolls to sop it all up with.
pork/beef mix grind sausage from Patek's grocery, Shiner.
fresh, hot kolaches from any of a half-dozen places in West or LaGrange, or Houston for that matter.
green sauce from the original Ninfa's on Navigation and a gazillion warm chips to eat it with.
gingerbread pancakes from Magnolia Cafe, Austin.
*alternatively, real country-fried steak.

Two perfect meals.....and hard to find at times, especially a good CFS. Too many of them are like trying to eat the bottom of a shoe.

A hell of a note..
Greetings fellow Texans!
FINALLY, after a busy work week, just now able to give some worthless replies to my own threads! LOL
Just a few notations:
1. Bob? You are right. Sardines are TOO healthy. I am 'shamed of myself on that one. If ANY thing related to fish, it is FRIED catfish! Forgive me for that lapse of good sense on that one.
2. Did I mention BACON? (kudos to Case on this one). It is the essence of old spice cookin' in Texas/South.
3. Cathy? As Houston said, it is DILL dipped! BUT...the secret is to not make it "soggy". You pour a bit of dill pickle juice into a bowl, and dip the potato chips into it..and eat 'em. To be honest hon, I don't think "sweet" pickle juice would work...BUT...
3A -- Watermelon pickles? Anybody remember those thangs?
