Default Need info on high school BASEBALL (small to mid-size TX towns)

We live in the south Houston area and are looking to relocate away from the big city into a smaller Texas town. We are self-employed so jobs don't matter.

We have three 5A ballplayers and making this move while they are in HS could be traumatic. So, if we can find a competitive 4A school with a top-notch coaching staff, then the boys are OK about going.

All we want is a town that doesn't treat the Greatest American Past-time as the ugly step-child next to Texas' State Religion (football). Hey, y'all know exactly what I mean.

Our boys are serious ballplayers, and want to play for a community that loves baseball, for a school that properly funds it, a team that is competitive, and a coach that loves coaching!

We're looking at two areas so far:

1) Hill Country. We lived in San Antonio for a few years and would love to move back in that direction. Are there any small to mid-size towns with great baseball out there?

2) East Texas Piney Woods. We've heard good things about the schools in Lindale and Whitehouse. But it's difficult finding info about the baseball teams. We just love the idea of living close to a pretty lake.

Any input is appreciated - even if you suggest we expand our search from the two areas above. We just want to get away from the Big City.

Thanks to all the baseball lovers out there.

You may look at New Braunfels. They were state champions in 2006.

Moody, in Corpus Christi, is constantly ranked (7 out of the past 10 years!) among the nations greatest high school baseball teams. The only other school in Texas to do this was Bellaire.

Smile Check out Sinton, Texas

Although I live in Pleasanton, which has consistently good ball clubs, I would reccomend looking at Sinton. They always have great teams and have a great tradition .. I think they are only 3A but they can hold their own with the big boys. Several players from Sinton have gone on to play Division 1 after high school. If Sinton is too small you might check-out Callalan(sub. of Corpus), they are good if not great in all sports. Hope this helps. God Bless

Brenham - perennial football playoff contendor and powerhouse in baseball. It's a place I want to move to someday.

There is nothing in the Hill Country in terms of baseball. Better luck elsewhere!
