Default Brownwood?

Just another option for me-the job opportunities are endless. Anyone familiar with Brownwood? Your thoughts?

I like Brownwood. Nice size for a town if you don't want to live in the city. I've got a good friend who lives in Blanket, just north of B'wood. I'd live there if I had the opportunity. It is not really in the Hill Country, but it is hilly and very pretty. It is almost in the geographical center of Texas.

If I had to choose between Temple and Brownwood it would be a tough choice. Brownwood is more remote and smaller. Temple is closer to Austin and has a few more restaurants. I've got family here and roots, so Temple wins for me in my situation. If I didn't have a reason to pick one over the other, whew, B'wood might win. Nice place.

I can't say much about Beeville and the other deep south TX towns you mentioned in the other thread as I've never been to them.

Brownwood is a very nice town.I lived there on the lake about 25 years ago.It has one of the best BBQ places anywhere called Underwoods. The surrounding area is pretty, especially to the east and south, and Lake Brownwood is a nice lake.

Of all the towns I have seen you mention,I think Brownwood or Lubbock are your two best bets.Brownwood is smaller,in a prettier area, but is more humid.Lubbock is a little more big city, less pretty at least in regards to the surrounding area, but drier.Brownwood is closer to Dallas and Austin, while Lubbock is out by itself.

Default Brownwood and Marble Falls-HorseshoeBay

Brownwood is a thumbs up in my opinion. Also I like a newer place called Horseshoe Bay on Lake LBJ near Marble Falls. It is more of a bedroom community but has one of the lowest crime rates in Texas. It is quite pretty and has some great golf courses. Marble Falls and Brownwood are some great choices too.

Hmmm.I live only about 90 miles from Brownwood, and currently am working only about 20 miles away in Santa Anna, and this doesn't describe the Brownwood I was in only a couple of weeks ago.Nice lake, nice green countryside. Are you sure you didn't mistake the question to be about Brownfield?

Thumbs up Yes. Brownwood is good if you have children

I lived there for about 9 or 10 years and thought i would never leave. Now, I am from Austin originally and i'm very city boy but after living the small town (if you are going to live in a small town bwood it the prefect size) i really didn't want to leave. Because of my advancement in my career i had to leave but I go back often. They have a big event once a year called "feels like home". If you go there do try Underwood’s as it is very good and the only cafeteria in bwood. I love bwood so much that i have started a forum just for bwood folks. i am not sure how to get the work out but it is there is anyone want to look. well as i have said, it is a good place to raise your kids but not much on social life which is fine with me...the traffic in dallas is killing me....another subject... http://www.brownwoodtalk.com is my site...bye!
