Default Ft. Hood horror

Now that rumors are being eliminated and facts are coming out, it is evident the lone shooter, a psychiatrist and Major, had planned this well. Per family members, he joined the miliary after high school in order to pursue a medical degree but, feared deployment to foreign lands yet was unable to find a way out without losing benefits. So, he finds another way out... by murdering fellow comrades. Being a psychiatrist, we can expect a plea of temporary insanity and a sentence to be served in a mental institution and that will be the travesty of this thing since it is obviously a premeditated act, for which I hope the coward hangs.
(As a side note, some media immediately jumped on the PTSD as a cause for this horror but, the Major had never seen service outside the U.S. New rule for media should be to wait for at least SOME facts and nix the speculation.)

Default Fort Hood Tragedy

My heart just breaks for all the families and friends that have been effected by this senseless tragedy.
Lowering our flag half mast on the flag pole just now, just brought tears to my eyes.

This is so tragic. Why not just take yourself "out" instead of hurting so very many.

What Lacey said.

Why take a bunch of people out with you? Why not just shoot yourself and save everyone else a lot of grief? I guess it is hard to understand the actions of someone who is mentally ill.

This is the type of thing that worries me about my kid. I think he almost was sent there last year but was sent elsewhere instead. But still, other families had to suffer. It really was senseless. And it could happen anywhere at anytime. Its happened on college and high school campuses.

I think it's amazing that he made the Anti-American/Anti-Military statements that he made, and are being reported, and he wasn't kicked out of the service. WE ARE FAR TOO PC in this country.

I'm sure they feared a backlash for throwing a Muslim/Islamic soldier out for making such statements. I guess to PC Society, what's a few deaths as long as you don't offend anyone.

I'm definitely one for thinking we've gotten entirely too PC in this country, but there is that tacky old free speech thing in the Constitution that is one of the more important things that this country is built on.
