Default Abilene, tx

Anticipating a move to Abilene, TX. Are there any call center jobs there? Who are the best employers and what can I expect to pay for a 1-bdrm apt in a decent area of town? Where are the decent areas of town?

Could be wrong but I think Blue Cross/Shield has a call center there.

Apartments, on the west side down south, outside the loop. North side on the east near ACU. That's the directions the city has grown. One bdrm, 400 +/-.

Many thx, WillysB. This is a great start. Blue Cross/Shield is a substantial employer. I'll check further into it.

Like WillysB said, Blue Cross/Blue Shield has a large insurance claims processing facility here. That would be the best place to check. I also had a friend who used to do some work for the local newspaper (Abilene Reporter-News) doing some telemarketing/sales over the phone so you might check there as well. As far as the best parts of town, I would stay on the south side of town as much as possible. There are a lot of nice apartments on the south and southwestern area of town that would have a nice 1BR for a decent price (around the Mall of Abilene area). I rented a small 1BR apartment over there in a nice compex for about $375/mo., but that was several years ago so I'm sure the rent is a little higher now. The ACU area has some nice apartments too but a lot of college students rent those, so beware of those potential issues.
