I'd say Houston first, then either Dallas or Austin, then San Antonio. I'm not too familiar with the other Cities nightlife, but have heard Ft. Worth has a decent amount.

1.Austin: Personally I prefer Houston and Dallas, but I put Austin as number 1 due to the fact that 6th is pretty wild. Also live music.

East 6th street, East Austin directly east of downtown, 5th street, 4th street, Red River, downtown in general, UT area,, South Congress, South Llamar, all along North Mopac, the Domain, and places are starting to appear in North Austin.
